8/27/2021 The Week in Reflection: 8/27Second Verse---Same as the First
The beginning of the school year is always filled with activities such as orientations, class meetings, navigating new routes, classes...all to set up the new normal. Can you believe that we are concluding week two already?! There are so many amazing things that our staff and students were accomplishing this week towards the mission of our school district of high achievement for ALL students where learning is our most important work.
If you are unaware of this blog called the Week in Reflection, the purpose of this communication is to share with everyone all the work happening at CHS each week from a principal's perspective. This newsletter is a very therapeutic (and time-consuming) reflection of all the things that I see each week. You will see photographs, short reflections, opportunities, and event information. I am not an author. I am just a simple man that loves what I do...I love kids and want to help each child find their purpose. In this Week in Reflection, you will read and see so many wonderful opportunities and experiences that show the engagement of our students and staff within our mission. The week was filled with teachers and students expanding their knowledge as they began to dig deeper into the standards in each course. It was a warm week, but certainly beautiful. Take a few moments to peruse all of the great things happening at CHS. Shining Star CLE : Olivia Nelson (Top 10 Finalist)
CHS Senior OIivia Nelson has been selected to perform with the TOP 10 Singers in the Shining Star CLE fundraiser benefiting Menorah Park of Beachwood. These performances are a FREE virtual event, held on Sunday evening, August 29th @ 7:00 PM and WE NEED YOUR VOTE!
Olivia is an amazing performer and will be bringing it to the competition. Olivia recorded her performance at the end of July in the Shining Star CLE studio. The professional judges limit the field to the top 4 performers out of 10. Beyond that, it is up to the fans to weigh in. We need you to watch and text your vote! Top 4 prizes range from $1,000-$10,000. Help spread the word to friends and family and let's rally behind Olivia! Last year, Chardon's Ethan Peterson ('21) won 1st place in the competition earning a $10,000 scholarship for college and $2,500 toward the CHS Choir Department. Prior top-tier CHS performers in the competition include Madie Houser ('20) and Kirsten Henry ('18). Watch as the Top-10 Finalists put on the performance of their lifetimes live-streamed and open to the public on August 29, 2021 at 7 p.m. Watch it all LIVE via this website, Facebook Live or the Shining Star CLE YouTube Channel Let's DO are part to support Olivia! One of the ways that we record school data and outcomes is through our school profile. Each year, our counselors collect information and document data points that work as a companion to the state report card. Furthermore, our district puts together a quality profile that adds further qualitative and quantitative outcomes for our families. Take some time to see the great information enclosed.

Important: Seamless Summer Program
Dear Parent/Guardian:
We Need Your Help! Our school is participating in a federal program called the Seamless Summer Program SSO. This program allows all children in our school to eat at no charge. However, some education programs we provide are funded with state dollars. We will no longer be collecting Free and Reduced-Price Applications This year, instead, we must collect the Household Income Survey. This form helps us collect household information for all students attending SSO schools. Without this information, SCHOOL NAME could lose important state funding for educational programs that our students are entitled to. What You Can Do Please take a moment to complete the form and return it to your student’s school. The Household Income Survey captures information and ensures the district/school receives state funding for education programs. We’re excited to offer no-cost meals to all students and appreciate your help. In order to continue to offer this program, we must If you have any questions, please contact Josephine Culliton at 440-286-0425. Save the Date: September 7, 2021 Open House/ Meet the Teachers
