8/22/2022 The Week in Reflection: 8/26A Week of Capturing Memories
The beginning of the school year is always filled with activities such as orientations, class meetings, navigating new routes, classes...all to set up the new normal. Can you believe that we are concluding week two already!? There are so many amazing things that our staff and students were accomplishing this week towards the mission of our school district committing to high achievement for all students.
If you are unaware of this blog called the Week in Reflection, the purpose of this communication is to share with everyone all the work happening at CHS each week from a principal's perspective. This newsletter is a very therapeutic (and time-consuming) reflection of all the things that I see each week. You will see photographs, short reflections, opportunities, and event information. I am not an author. I am just a simple man that loves what I do...I love kids and want to help each child find their purpose. In this Week in Reflection, you will read and see so many wonderful opportunities and experiences that show the engagement of our students and staff within our mission. The week was filled with teachers and students expanding their knowledge as they began to dig deeper into the standards in each course. It was a warm week, but certainly beautiful. Take a few moments to peruse all of the great things happening at CHS. The Schedule for Next Week: 4 Day Week With Adjusted Block
Monday and Tuesday will be regular White Days
*On Wednesday, August 31, students in Algebra I, Math 8, ELA I, ELA 8, and the Fundamentals of Algebra class will report to school at 7:35 AM to take their first round of MAP data testing. School will begin at 10:13 AM for students not taking these tests. Thursday is an adjusted schedule to allow for PLC's. 1st Period begins at 9:04 AM. Students should still arrive before 8:55 AM to reduce congestion on Maple Avenue. Friday: No School Transportation Procedures
Chardon High School
For students at Chardon High School (grades 8-12) being dropped off and/or picked up, the procedures have adjusted with the two-tier transportation model for the district. Parents dropping-off/picking-up at Chardon High School enter the school campus via Maple Avenue, drive in front of the high school, and exit via Memorial Drive onto Chardon Avenue. Students at Chardon High School (grades 8-12) riding the school bus will enter the school building through the main school entrance beginning at 7:15 AM. School buses will be staged for students in the afternoon in front of the high school, on Memorial Drive, and in the Alcan; and will exit the campus both via North Street and Memorial Drive. Important note for students dropping off middle school siblings: Student drivers may drop off using the front of the middle school at 7:10 AM. Students will then head north towards Canfield to enter the student parking lot. All Parents/Guardians Please be mindful of the following afternoon directions:

AP Physics C performed their final Barbie Bungee drops off the back of the student bleachers. The goal of this activity is data extrapolation. Students had to determine from their initial drops of 1.5 M and below how many rubber bands it would take for Barbie to have a thrilling bungie ride but not impact the ground from 5.37 meters. The group with the closest drop to the ground was declared the winner!

Volunteer with CHS After Prom
Our programs are funded through concession sales at CHS football, soccer and basketball games. We rely solely on parent volunteers to help sell concessions and assist with the planning and execution of our After Prom event each May.
Come and be part of the fun! Our next After Prom Meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7:00 pm in the CHS Media Center.
We are in immediate need of many concession volunteers for Sept. 2 & 3. Here is the link to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0544aba728a0f49-football1
