Over the past three weeks, I have been extremely connected to our students in providing communications, counseling, and service to our mission. Mr. Higham, Mrs. Bondi, and I have taken time to meet with numerous students to discuss academics, relationships, and behaviors.
Countless hours have been spent with families, outside agencies, and local advocates to document, plan, and articulate ways to provide and ensure that all of the situations that have come to our offices are comprehensively attended to with precision.
In between proactively talking with groups, guiding young students with their words, and situations outside of the school--- we have worked tirelessly to not interrupt learning and targeted outcomes in the classroom.
Many of the tasks that the administration works on are unnoticed by many, but they are done out of a commitment to you, our students, and our school. We do this while balancing our own family life.
The CHS staff are extraordinary people. They have been assisting me, our assistant principals, and teachers while we manage and lead through covering classes, lending a hand with supervision, and assisting students with their needs. At our core, community driven values and relationships carry the beacon that drives our success. The phrase that breathes energy in our building is Chardon Strong. This mantra is best understood in the following ways:
We are Chardon. To live our values means that we are defined by our response to any outcome. We have modeled this for generations of students and parents towards how we respond to difficulty. We are a community in good and bad times who will live with integrity. We have been consistently humbled in our response to moments of success, doubt, and difficulty. We are a district that demonstrates achievement in our outcomes to the state, and outreach to our community and nation. We model respect in our success and failures and how we respond to each other. We recognize the value of seeing the dignity and honor of all of the students and staff members that we encounter. Most importantly, we are optimistic for tomorrow by living our purpose today as we nurture each other.
We are Chardon...you cannot be built much tougher. As we transition into a short two day week next week, take the time to give thanks to someone who has made a difference in your life this school year.

Art Piece of the Week
Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an educational simulation and/or academic competition in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. MUN involves and teaches researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
Participants in Model UN conferences, known as delegates, are placed in committees and assigned countries, or occasionally other organizations or political figures, where they represent members of that body. They are presented with their assignments in advance, along with a topic or topics that their committee will discuss. Delegates conduct research before conferences and formulate positions that they will then debate with their fellow delegates in the committee, staying true to the actual position of the member they represent. At the end of a conference, the best-performing delegates in each committee, as well as delegations, are sometimes recognized with awards.
Chardon High School entered the MUN this year (after a year off from in-person competition) under the vision of several students and the direction of Mrs. Kristen Niedzwiecki. Anytime that our students can model real life applications of the lessons that they learn in class--what a phenomenal life skill that is cross-curricular! I am so grateful to the students and Mrs. Kristen Niedzwiecki for their continued focus on living our core values and showcasing the talents of our students!
Bio under the scope
Students in Honors biology are exploring through microscopes this week. Next week, the students will observe cells in cell divisions.

Creating digital art relaxes me in between all of the constant running. We all need something that we can do that is peaceful, relaxing, and inspiring. If you do not know, I have many skills that amplify my purpose. Besides be a principal and teacher---I have a degree in Religious Education, Masters in Educational Administration, a Superintendent's License, a background in Graphic Design and Digital Art, and I have worked at golf courses for over 20 years managing turf....and I coach. I am quite unique in the world of school administration. No one can question my work ethic, passion, and commitment to anything that I am involved in. The stress of the last few years have expanded my creativity in creating digital graphics, highlight videos, and photography. We now have a podcast and market our school district more than ever to reach a greater audience.
I have enclosed playlists and albums as a quick reference for the students and families emailing me for certain photos, videos, and logos.
