​The Beauty of Fall

The Autumnal Equinox fell on September 22. Fall is a time that generates so much beauty in Northeast Ohio. Lately, we could feel the brisk reminder of summer waiving goodbye...and wow, it came with a fury on Wednesday!  Just as the meteorological season has quite a story...so do we.

Life is full of opportunities.  These moments come and go and we have to ask ourselves --do we ever seize the opportunities? More than ever, we have to take the time to seize opportunities before they are taken away. Autumn is an opportunity to pause and reflect on all of our blessings that surround us. It an opportunity to give thanks, and it an opportunity to prepare for the "weather" whether we want to or not.

How has the first full month been for you? Are you still on track for your goals? Have you built the capacity for success? Questions like this are meant to make you pause. Whether you are a parent, student, or teacher reading this---you might have to reflect on your purpose and your place in the story.  Without a doubt, the last three weeks have been an adjustment for all of us with the new routines.

In school, we have bells to create start and end times--but the fluidity of life constantly flows for parents, teachers, and students.  I have lived inside of bells my whole life- but, what matters most to my story is how I spend my time between the bells; more importantly, how I spend my time with the priorities that I have established. Time is inevitable- how we use it matters so much in every quarter--especially the first quarter.

Students, many of you are on point. You have adapted and created new habits along the way. Take this Autumn to refine, re-fuel and re-set timelines and priorities toward those areas in your life that are not only strengths but also your weaknesses. Make the time to refine one area of your life that you want to be more successful in...the quarter ends next month. Look in the mirror and see your beauty and share your gifts in and out of the classroom. Live your Purpose!

Parents, you sacrifice so much for your children. As they grow older, many of them develop both a natural and unnatural independence. Take this Autumn to remind your children of their self-worth, and your unconditional love for them. They need you more than ever in this everchanging world.

Teachers, you are the extensions of the family. You spend so much time with students helping them along their journey. Take this Autumn to build your self-efficacy. Many times more than not, you are the catalyst that can change a child's world. Keep up your great work and take time for yourself! WE APPRECIATE YOU!​

Homecoming 2021

The Executive Student Council is proud to present- Homecoming 2021! This event is the first time grades 9-12 have been to a dance in nearly two years. This event will be held outside to maximize airflow during dancing. To accommodate this event,  we are renting a large tent that will be set up in the front yard next to the entrance of the school. The main school hallway, cafeteria, and restrooms will be open for students while the music and dancing will be outdoors. 

We are recommending that all guests bring shoes that are comfortable once the dancing begins. Facial coverings are recommended indoors. They are not required while outside.

Guest Form: Students who are NOT enrolled in Chardon High School must complete this form. (Due 10/8)

EXPECTED STUDENT BEHAVIOR 
     
  • Students will follow all applicable school rules as outlined in the CHS Student Handbook. 
  • Students will show respect and be courteous towards all students, faculty, and chaperones. 
  • Sexually explicit/provocative dancing is strictly prohibited.
  • No excessive public displays of affection.
  • Any student or guest suspected of being under the influence of any controlled substance, or in possession of tobacco or any controlled substance, is subject to removal from the dance, emergency expulsion, and criminal prosecution. 
                                                                       
CONSEQUENCES 

  • Students violating the CHS Dance Code of Conduct will be given one verbal warning.  With their second warning, they will be asked to leave the dance.  There will be no refunds given for students asked to leave before the end of the dance. 
  • Removal from the dance may affect future school disciplinary action, and/or school dance privileges. ​​
No 8th graders or guests over the age of 20 may attend the dance

Program Recognition

Of the 1.6 million entrants, some 50,000 with the highest PSAT/NMSQT® Selection Index scores (calculated by doubling the sum of the Reading, Writing and Language, and Math Test scores) qualify for recognition in the National Merit® Scholarship Program. In September, these high scorers are notified through their schools that they have qualified as either a Commended Student or Semifinalist. 

Commended Students

In late September, more than two-thirds (about 34,000) of the approximately 50,000 high scorers on the PSAT/NMSQT® receive Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. Commended Students are named on the basis of a nationally applied Selection Index score that may vary from year to year and is typically below the level required for participants to be named Semifinalists in their respective states. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit® Scholarships, some of these students do become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses. Congratulations to Daniel Brill, Morgan Fisher, and Theodore Jons for being recognized as commended students!

Financial Aid Night: Monday, September 27th 6:30 pm (LGIR)

This is an exciting year for you and your son/daughter but along with that comes many questions and decisions.  We are here to help guide you through this process.  The guidance office is hosting a FAFSA night to assist with this process and answer questions about the process.  

​Financial Aid Night will be held September 27th at 6:30 pm in the LGIR at the Chardon Middle School.  A LEAF representative will be explaining the FAFSA process and will break down the various types of financial aid available.

Parent Teacher Conferences: October 6- 4:30-8:30 PM

On Wednesday, October 6, Chardon High School will conduct our first parent teacher conference session. This evening will take place from 4:30-8:30 PM. As we continue to create opportunities for our families to meet their busy schedules,  this session will be hybrid: providing both online google meets or in-person sessions.  My secretary,  Jen Sprinzl, is working on the system for parents/guardians to sign up for time-slots. The times for the evening will be in ten minute intervals with a buffer time built between for our teachers to transition from family to family.  The system should be LIVE by next week.  The first half of the evening will be virtual providing the most flexibility for families, whereas the second half of the eveing will be in person. Parents  and Guardians are asked to wear masks for in-person meetings. Once we are able activate the site, we will send a separate email. Once a parent/guardian signs up for a time and submits the form, an email will be sent back directly to the email address that signed up for conferences with further directions, times, and links to the Google Meet if you are choosing the virtual route. Thank you for patience as we build this system throughout this school year.

Students in Mrs. Tekavec's AP Biology course are in a speed dating lesson about cell organelle.  For those taking notes, an organelle is a subcellular structure that has one or more specific jobs to perform in the cell, much like an organ does in the body. Among the more important cell organelles are the nuclei, which store genetic information; mitochondria, which produce chemical energy; and ribosomes, which assemble proteins. Great fun in class on Thursday!

Obtain an application for a minor work permit in the school office.

  1. The top section of the application is to filled out by the student and signed by a parent or guardian.
  2. The bottom section of the application is to be filled out by the employer.
  3. The back section is to be filled out by your physician.
  4. All sections of the form need to be filled out before processing begins.
  5. You must have one of the following valid forms of ID when you bring the form back:

Driver’s license
Passport

Student will return the completed form with one of the valid forms of ID.  Mrs. Sprinzl will process the application.

Annual Update Reminder

Thank you for all families that have completed the annual update. For those that need to complete this task, enclosed are the directions.

​The Annual Update must be completed by ALL Chardon Local School District households. If you registered this past spring or summer, you are asked to complete the Annual Update. This ensures that you have created your Parent Portal Account and that we have the most accurate information for your student.

The window to complete the Annual Update will be open between 9/7/2021-11/30/2021. Every student must have an Annual Update completed online each year. Changes in residency, custody and medical conditions or medications require additional documentation. The Annual Update cannot be completed on paper. If you do not have access to a computer or you need assistance, please contact the Board of Education office at 440-285-4052.

  • Only the Primary Household Parent/Guardian can complete the Annual Update.
  • Please note that this CANNOT be completed on a mobile device. You will need to use a desktop or laptop computer. If you are not able to access the update, please check your pop-up blocker settings.

We are proud to announce that Chardon High School has received GreatSchools.org’s inaugural College Success Award - Gold!
 
As a recipient of the College Success Award in 2019, and 2020 our school received the first-ever College Success Award - Gold distinction for our multiyear track record of preparing students to enroll and succeed in college. Chardon High School  is among 1,770 high schools in 26 states to receive the Gold Award.
 
Now in its fourth year, the College Success Award program evaluates public schools based on data that show how well our school prepares students to succeed after graduation, including whether they enroll in college, are ready for college-level coursework, and persist into their second year.
 
We applaud the hard work of the entire Chardon High School community — including students, parents, teachers, and others that aspire to help our students succeed in college and beyond.

High Achievement

​For the past nine years, I have served on the administrative team. I love every second of what I do at Chardon High School (even during the last 19 months of service) and I am deeply humbled at the direction we are moving. Every day is a new experience for us with 1,164 students and 80 staff members in the building and a new day to get better and be better. The focus on our mission is the heart of our daily decisions through a lens of our core values. The flexibility and adjustments that our team organized and prepared for to return to learn simply was outstanding. I am proud of every student, staff, counselor and administrator for their flexibility during all of these adjustments

We have accomplished so many extraordinary tasks that build upon and refine the treasured traditions and outcomes of being a graduate of Chardon High School.  Recently, we have taken time out of our day to talk to students about being leaders. Apparently, there is a tik tok trend that is causing some students to emulate what others are doing on this social media platform. Young teenagers are choosing to remove soap dispensers, take sanitizer pouches, or even destroy this property.  The administration and our school resource officer have made our stance clear this week regarding this trend: BE DIFFERENT.  A social media like lasts on your account for a moment, but a suspension follows you forever. We were all teenagers without phones growing up while these kids were born fidgeting with devices. These kids only know a world with devices, but need to disconnect to reconnect with people, humanity, and citizenship. It takes a team effort to raise a child today. Please take the time to talk to your children this weekend about your expectations --which are most definitely aligned to our expectations.

Working each day with a compass and a purpose drives the standards that we teach and the climate that we create at Chardon. We have something special here...and it didn't happen by chance nor are we going to lose it.  We are a family, and a community of learners. Leadership is organic. Leadership is intentional, shared, and reciprocal. The teachers work so well together and the students share in the construction of their learning.  It is hard work that truly prepares students for the 4E's that we preach: Employment, Enrollment, Enlistment, and Entrepreneurship.

Teaching is my passion. My purpose is to serve and inspire others to find theirs in any capacity that I can encounter students and staff.  Our teachers encapsulate so many roles each day. They are not only licensed educators--they are counselors, caretakers, facilitators, leaders, guides, planners, collaborators, statisticians, mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters; a vessel of knowledge and experiences who serve and are often underappreciated. 

As Walt Whitman wrote, "Happiness, not in another place but this place...not for another hour, but this hour."

Servant Leaders

On Wednesday, students from Actively Caring for People, the Interact Club,  Chardon Academy,  and Teen Leadership shared their learning experiences with the students from Broadmoor school. The student volunteers assisted students, talked to students, and played with children on the playground at Garfield Park. 

We are so proud of the compassion, humility, and servant leadership that our students displayed during their visit.  Students and staff came away with a better understanding of our their uniqueness and a greater appreciation for living life to the fullest. 

National Merit Semifinalist

In early September, about 16,000 students, or approximately one-third of the 50,000 high scorers, are notified that they have qualified as Semifinalists. To ensure that academically talented young people from all parts of the United States are included in this talent pool, Semifinalists are designated on a state-representational basis. They are the highest scoring entrants in each state. NMSC provides scholarship application materials to Semifinalists through their high schools. To be considered for a National Merit® Scholarship, Semifinalists must advance to Finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards and all other requirements explained in the information provided to each Semifinalist.

Discovery Learning in Science

Students in Dr. Schneider's Biology class are working on a interdisciplinary project using Andy Goldsworthy techniques of using nature to make art. The students used nature to make macromolecules!

In Dr. Schneider's AP Environmental Science class students were analyzing the stream on campus testing samples on physical features and studying water chemistry next week. Read more about this experience here.

Schedule for the Week of September 20-24 (Regular Schedule)

ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL AND ATTENDANCE - Regular attendance and promptness to class are necessary for the continuity of learning and the development of good habits.  The following are considered legitimate absences from school:  personal illness, illness in the family, quarantine of the home, religious holiday, legal obligation, medical appointment, death of a relative, or emergency circumstances which, in the judgment of school authorities, constitute sufficient cause for absence.  Doctor’s notes may be requested by school authorities if a student accumulates excessive absences.  Parents must call the school when children are absent.  State law requires that the parent be contacted at home or work if the school is not called.  An unexcused absence will be treated as a truancy offense and dealt with accordingly.  Please call the high school at 440.285.4057 (press #1) prior to 8:00 a.m. to report absences.  This is available 24 hours a day.

Topper Time Manual

This manual is to best prepare all students with the use of Topper Time. It was shared with staff and students. 

Topper Time is necessary part of the infrastructure of our bell schedule. With the eighth graders eating lunch during 5A, ninth graders in Freshman Mentoring, our students in grades 10-12 need a place to call home in their day. Rather than just making this place for twenty minutes to be with students, Topper Time is an opportunity for students to have a brain break, receive intervention, and to develop relationships with their teacher and other students in a small “home”. The pandemic pushed paused to deploy the Senior Capstone Projects within this time period. As we transition in 2021-2022, the redeployment of these locally defined graduation seals are essential with the Class of 2022 on this pathway, and fully for the class of 2023

The mighty eagle is quite striking to see soaring. Their presence, eyes, and awareness makes them an indelible part of our country. 

Tomorrow is a day where we pause and reflect on patriotism.  The last several months have been very trying for all of us.  Through good and difficult times we must look to the sky and see the eagle soaring and be reminded of its vision, courage, and perseverance. 

It is hard to even fathom that over a  generation of  learners have crossed the halls across of our nation never fully experiencing our response as a country to the events of September 11, 2001.  Most of us can recall where we were,  and who was  around us that day. Every student in our district learns about that day from indirect perspective. 

As  you come together this weekend with your family and friends-remember, recall, and embrace the little things in front of you...for they matter the most- family.​

 National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. We are using this month to raise awareness and break the stigma around mental health and suicide prevention.  Knowing how  to reach out and get help for oneself or a friend can make a major difference for someone.

Through the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus, parents/guardians can now view their child(ren)'s school fees and pay the fees online. Please use the helpful links below to get started. If you need further assistance, please call the main office of your child's school.

The Annual Update: Infinite Campus

The Annual Update must be completed by ALL Chardon Local School District households. If you registered this past spring or summer, you are asked to complete the Annual Update. This ensures that you have created your Parent Portal Account and that we have the most accurate information for your student.
The window to complete the Annual Update will be open between 9/7/2021-11/30/2021. Every student must have an Annual Update completed online each year. Changes in residency, custody and medical conditions or medications require additional documentation. The Annual Update cannot be completed on paper. If you do not have access to a computer or you need assistance, please contact the Board of Education office at 440-285-4052.

  • Only the Primary Household Parent/Guardian can complete the Annual Update.
  • Please note that this CANNOT be completed on a mobile device. You will need to use a desktop or laptop computer. If you are not able to access the update, please check your pop-up blocker settings.

Chardon Students Learn New Technology

Mrs. Eby's  Multi-Media class visited  Memorial Field to get a closer look at the new scoreboard, and the Daktronics hardware and software used to display graphics for athletic events that take place on the athletic field. The students learned from Mr. Dave Jevnikar of GTV about the opportunities they will have to create dynamic images and videos in their class. Chardon After Prom

Chardon After Prom organizes and runs the football, soccer, and basketball concessions.  The proceeds are used to give all juniors and seniors a memorable and fun after prom event in May.  We need people like you to join us in any of the following:
  • Fall concessions (soccer & football)
  • Heading up girls' soccer concessions
  • Basketball concessions
  • Being After prom vice president or secretary
  • Decorating workshops (weekday evenings, Feb-May)
  • AfterProm set-up, event help, and tear-down

Topper Time Manual

This manual is to best prepare all students with the use of Topper Time. It was shared with staff and students. 

Topper Time is necessary part of the infrastructure of our bell schedule. With the eighth graders eating lunch during 5A, ninth graders in Freshman Mentoring, our students in grades 10-12 need a place to call home in their day. Rather than just making this place for twenty minutes to be with students, Topper Time is an opportunity for students to have a brain break, receive intervention, and to develop relationships with their teacher and other students in a small “home”. The pandemic pushed paused to deploy the Senior Capstone Projects within this time period. As we transition in 2021-2022, the redeployment of these locally defined graduation seals are essential with the Class of 2022 on this pathway, and fully for the class of 2023.

9/11 Memorial: A Callery pear tree became known as the "Survivor Tree" after enduring the September 11, 2001 terror attacks at the World Trade Center. In October 2001, the tree was discovered at Ground Zero severely damaged, with snapped roots and burned and broken branches. The tree was removed from the rubble and placed in the care of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. After its recovery and rehabilitation, the tree was returned to the Memorial in 2010. New, smooth limbs extended from the gnarled stumps, creating a visible demarcation between the tree’s past and present. Today, the tree stands as a living reminder of resilience, survival and rebirth.

Simple Things in Life

Work is one of the greatest ways that we can give back to our community, state, country, and the world. What we do can be looked through various lenses. Regardless of our perspective, our work matters. This Monday we take time to pause our 'work' as a simple reminder of the value of our contributions. More importantly, Labor Day is an opportunity to spend quality time with our family.

It has been HOT, but soon we will see the change of scenery and be reminded how short summer is in Northeast Ohio. Yet, for most people in Chardon, we become acclimated to the upcoming season and shortened days. We remember that this is nature's way of nurturing itself after a long year. After the last year and a half, we could all appreciate a change in scenery.

This is a perfect time for each of us to remember the simple things in life: Faith, Family, and Friends.  For many people in Chardon, these reminders come in all shapes and sizes.  They emulate stories, memories, and a reminder of how short our time can be with people. 

Faith can remind us of our own humanity, or even trusting another person. Having faith gives us a sense of hope and optimism in demonstrating our dignity to all people. The new season can provide us the opportunity to rekindle our belief and hope in humanity by the actions and responses that we demonstrate to others.

Family is the root of our own autonomy. Growing up, we depend so much on our own parents and relatives to nurture and guide us through good and bad times. As we get older, we begin to develop independence from our family and we begin to gain--and sometimes-- lose their trust.  CHS students aren't immune to these changes.  We value that every student has their own story, values, and routines ---but what is essential is that our children take the time to recognize the importance of how family time allows for their independence to guide their choices and behaviors.

Friends are essential to our development regardless of our age.  We value the beauty of authentic communication that allows us to grow in our abilities in and out of school. Technology is a wonderful tool that allows us to communicate. It can become a double-edged sword in our ability to develop meaningful and long lasting relationships. Sending a quick message may suffice for a moment, but what interconnects us as humans is our ability to talk, share, and think in meaningful discussions.

Transitioning to school life: Faith, Family, and Friends can connect us to a bigger story; a community. I am proud to see how our community has grown and transformed our values into something bigger than words on paper.  As we quickly move into this new season, seize the opportunities to spend more time with the simple things in life...because we all are experiencing how life goes in the fast-lane.

The purpose of this evening is for meaningful interactions with our parents. Parents will follow their student's schedule. We understand that you might have several children in the building, and may not be able to cover all of the classes. We will enclosed Flipgrid videos (not all are posted yet) to assist you with classes that you are unable to attend.

Parents: please follow your student's schedule by logging into Infinite Campus and clicking on the schedule tab. We are encouraging students to write down their schedules or having their parents print a copy. Adults and students will assist parents navigate the building.

Teachers will have (9) minute classes to go through expectations, curricular goals, and answer questions The bell will ring with a (4) minute passing time. Parents will follow their son(s) and/or daughter(s) schedule. Throughout the evening, parents may head to the cafeteria to enjoy refreshments, and learn more about clubs and activities.

Dear Chardon Schools Parent/Guardian: 

Our objective continues to be keeping our students engaged through in-person learning on a full-time basis in our classrooms. The Chardon Local Schools Board of Education met on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, to review the issue of requiring facial coverings for students and staff in Chardon Schools. Pursuant to Board of Education Policy 8450.01 - PROTECTIVE FACIAL MASKS/COVERINGS DURING PANDEMIC/EPIDEMIC EVENTS, the Board of Education approved a resolution requiring students and staff to wear facial masks/coverings inside the school setting effective Tuesday, September 7, 2021. 

FACIAL MASKS/COVERINGS 

Facial masks/coverings should: 

1. fully cover the mouth, nose, and chin; 
2. fit snugly against the side of the face so there are no gaps; 
3. not create difficulty breathing while worn; and 
4. be held securely through either a tie, elastic, etc. to prevent slipping.

EXEMPTIONS TO FACIAL MASKS/ COVERINGS REQUIREMENT 


Exceptions to the use of facial masks/coverings include when: 

A. Facial masks/coverings in the school setting are prohibited by law or regulation;
B. Facial masks/coverings are in violation of documented industry standards;
C. Facial masks/coverings are not advisable for health reasons; 

D. Facial masks/coverings are in violation of the school’s documented safety policies; 
E. Facial masks/coverings are not required when the individual works alone in an assigned work area; 
F. There is a functional (practical) reason for a staff member or volunteer not to wear a facial mask/covering in the workplace;
G. Settings where facial masks/coverings might present a safety hazard (i.e. science labs); 
H. The individual is communicating with students who are hearing impaired or otherwise disabled, where an accommodation is appropriate or necessary; 
I. The individual is actively participating in athletic practice, scrimmage, or competition that is permitted under the relevant rules and/or recommendations of the relevant agency or association; 
J. The individual is seated and actively consuming food or beverage; 
K. Students and staff can maintain distancing of at least three (3) feet and removal of the facial mask/covering is necessary for instructional purposes, including instruction in foreign language, English language for non-native speakers, and other subjects where wearing a facial mask/covering would prohibit participation in normal classroom activities, such as playing an instrument; 
L. Students are able to maintain a distance of three (3) feet or more and a facial mask/covering break is deemed necessary by the educator supervising the educational setting; 
M. An established sincerely held religious requirement exists that does not permit a facial mask/covering.
 

If you believe that your child/ren qualify for an exemption from the facial mask/covering requirement, you may complete the Face Covering Exemption Form HERE (this is a writable PDF form) and email the completed document to ed.klein@chardonschools.org The form is also available for download from the District Response Plan section of the district website, accessible via the top banner of the homepage. The district will be receiving the exemption forms and notifying the necessary school personnel of the student’s exemption status. 

STUDENT DISCIPLINE 

Our intent with respect to the facial mask/covering requirement is to not put students in the middle of this difficult issue. If a student arrives at school without a facial mask/covering and does not have an exemption on file, the school administrator will discuss the requirement with the student and then contact the parent to attempt to resolve the issue. Disciplinary action will not occur as a result of not wearing a facial mask/covering. However, additional violations of the Code of Conduct stemming from the decision not to wear a facial mask/covering may result in student discipline.

VACCINATION STATUS 

The following is completely voluntary on the part of the parent/guardian. Chardon Schools will add a notation in a student’s Infinite Campus record indicating vaccination status if the parent voluntarily provides proof of vaccination to the school. This information will be protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and will be used only to assist in evaluating a close contact for possible quarantine. Again, sharing this information with the school is done on a purely voluntary basis. 

QUARANTINE 

The following information is taken directly from a guidance document distributed to school districts on August 31, 2021. 

How the quarantine process works. 

1. Positive case is reported to the school and/or local health department.
​2. The local health department works with the school to begin the contact tracing process. 

3. Schools will assist the local health department by providing lists of possible direct contacts. 
4. The local health department works with the school to assess exposure risk and determines who qualifies as a direct contact through interviews with the case and school officials. 
5. The local health department determines the level of exposure and decides if the direct contact needs to be quarantined. Points to consider in determining exposure level: 
a. Interview with direct contact. 
b. Check vaccination status. 
c. Determine whether direct contact was wearing a facial mask/covering. 
d. Assess direct contact’s level of exposure to determine if they spent more than 15 minutes and were less than 3 feet from the case. 
6. The local health department works with the school to communicate quarantine determination to the direct contacts.
7. If voluntary compliance cannot be obtained, children or staff shall be excluded from in-person school and school activities, based on the quarantine order of the local health department, according to Ohio Revised Code 3707.16. 
8. The local health department is responsible for monitoring students or staff during the quarantine period. 
9. Quarantined individuals should not participate in in-person activities until they are released from quarantine by the local health department.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE for senior pictures are Friday, JANUARY 21, 2022

Requirements for your senior picture:
  • Pictures can be taken with the professional photographer of your choice. 
  • Your picture must be a head and shoulder shot.  If your picture does not meet this requirement,   we reserve the right to crop your picture accordingly. 
  • It is recommended/preferred for the picture to have a simple background.  The picture can be taken indoors or outdoors.
  • If submitted in color, your picture will be printed in color.
  • There should not be props in the picture. We will not accept pictures with hands touching the face or head.  No hats allowed.

Submitting your senior picture:  
  • Email your picture to daniel.chenoweth@chardonschools.org (please do NOT reduce quality of photos when sent - at least 300 dpi)
  • Send your picture to the high school on a CD as a “.jpeg” file.
  • Last resort option, submit a wallet size hard copy photo to the high school office.  

Note:  Digital submissions are much preferred and strongly recommended in order to preserve quality of the photos.

Important: Seamless Summer Program

Dear Parent/Guardian:

We Need Your Help! 
Our school is participating in a federal program called the Seamless Summer Program SSO. This program allows all children in our school to eat at no charge. However, some education programs we provide are funded with state dollars. 

We will no longer be collecting Free and Reduced-Price Applications This year, instead, we must collect the Household Income Survey. This form helps us collect household information for all students attending SSO schools. Without this information, SCHOOL NAME could lose important state funding for educational programs that our students are entitled to.


What You Can Do
Please take a moment to complete the form and return it to your student’s school. The Household Income Survey captures information and ensures the district/school receives state funding for education programs.
