To encourage students to continue their reading through the summer and to build a common experience in literature, the English department is requesting that you complete a summer reading assignment. Click on the class for which you are registered for the 16-17 school year and follow the summer reading assignment you see there. Follow due dates as listed for each class.

Summer at Hiram Summer Camps and Academies for High School StudentsHiram College's summer academies provide an enriched residential learning experience for high school students. Our summer academies are hands-on. Though some classroom instruction is involved, students will spend much of their time applying their skills. Hiram faculty and students participate as teachers and mentors in our summer academies, giving high school students exposure to and preparation for college-level academics and campus life.
Hiram College will award a $1,000 Summer Academy Scholarship to every high school student who attends a 2016 summer academy and enrolls as a full-time student at Hiram College. Only one Summer Academy Scholarship will be awarded per new student. The scholarship is renewable up to four years. (For a total of $4,000 in scholarship award at $1,000 per year for four years.)
This year's summer academies include:
Chardon After Prom
In order to pull off After Prom, we need about 100 people to work the Event - that's A LOT of help! Please join us in providing a wonderful memory these kids will have for life! There are many ways to help, and I encourage you to sign up to help as much as you can, it's work, but it's fun! Below you will have the opportunity to sign up to help set up, and to work at various locations throughout the building on the night of the Event. If you are signing up to work the Monte Carlo room, please add a comment if there's a particular table you desire (poker, blackjack, hi-low, etc.). We are also counting on our workers to help with clean-up as soon as the Event ends. The more of us there are, the quicker it goes. We also understand some of you may only be able to work clean up, so we have included a slot just for clean up - believe me we'd love some fresh legs & energy at 3 AM! Recruit a buddy to sign up with, you'll be making great memories of your own, too!
